Confirmation is an opportunity for young people to be instructed in the basic teachings of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and publicly confess their commitment to remain steadfast in the faith entrusted to them in their baptisms. Confirmation begins in 5th grade. 5th and 6th graders will receive instruction in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. 7th and 8th grade confirmands will be instructed in the chief doctrines of the Christian faith as taught in Luther’s Small Catechism. At St. Paul, students will normally be invited to receive First Holy Communion following the completion of this course of instruction. An information and enrollment session is held at the church every year on the first Wednesday after Labor Day.
